| MacCentral berichtet, dass Apples G3/300 die Ultra 10 von Sun (UltraSPARC IIi/300 Prozessor) im SPECint95-Vergleich schlägt. Das ist zwar korrekt, aber leider gibt es ein paar zusätzliche Fakten zu berücksichtigen: Bezüglich der SPECfp95-Leistung (FPU-intensiv) ist die Sun dem Mac 50% überlegen; die SPECmarks werden auch auf dem Mac unter Unix gefahren (bei IBM, einem der beiden Hersteller der PowerPCs), ein direkter Vergleich zum Mac unter Mac OS ist damit nicht gegeben; SPEC95 ist zudem bereits 3 Jahre alt und damit der Leistung aktueller Maschinen nicht mehr angemessen (SPEC98 sollte irgendwann mal veröffentlicht werden). Wer auch weitere Prozessoren miteinander vergleichen will, der kann das auf unserer SPECmarks-Seite tun.
| MacCentral noted that Apples G3/300 is faster than Suns Ultra 10 (UltraSPARC IIi/300 processor), according to SPECint95. Unfortunately there are some more facts: In SPECfp95 (FPU performance) the Sun scores about 50% higher; the SPECmarks are scored under Unix also on the Mac (by IBM), so you don't have a direct comparison of the Mac vs. the Ultra 10; SPEC95 is about 3 years old, that's very old when you want to compare current machines (SPEC98 will be released some time in the future). | Wir haben System 7.5.5, 8.0, 8.1 sowie 8.2 Alpha2 in Sachen Performance miteinander verglichen. Um die aktuelle Entwicklerausgabe von Mac OS 8.2 steht es in punkto Leistung noch nicht so toll, das wird sich aber mit Sicherheit noch ändern.

| AMD's Pentium-Clone (Kompatibler) K6 gibt es nun auch mit 300 MHz. Der Hersteller gibt leider nach wie vor nur Windows-Benchmarks an, Vergleichswerte wie SPECmarks usw. bleiben aus, damit natürlich auch der Vergleich zur PowerPC-Architektur.
| AMDs K6 processor, a Pentium clone (compatible), is now available with a speed of 300 MHz. The company still publishes only Windows benchmarks (nothing comparable to SPECmark) so the direct comparison with the PowerPC architecture is not possible.

| Sun hat den UltraSPARC IIi mit 333 MHz vorgestellt. Gemäss SPEC95 entspricht die Leistung des Prozessors im Integerbereich etwa derjenigen eines gleich schnellen PowerPC 604r, im FPU-Bereich zeigt er aber annähernd die doppelte Leistung. Siehe auch auf unserem Prozessorvergleich.
| Sun announced its UltraSPARC IIi processor running at 333 MHz. According to SPEC95 its integer performance is about equal to a PowerPC 604r at the same speed, its FPU shows nearly twice the perfomance of a 604r. See also our processor comparison.

| Jetzt ist's offiziell: Was seit langem unter dem Codenamen «Artemis» in Form von Gerüchten kursiert ist, hat sich jetzt als PowerMacintosh G3 All-In-One bestätigt. Der Rechner, der auf einem PowerPC 750 mit 233 oder 266 MHz und 512k Backside-Cache basiert (Gossamer-Platine wie die PowerMacs G3), wird nur in den USA und Kanada im Bildungssektor erhältlich sein. Als Besonderheit sind der eingebaute 15.1 Zoll-Bildschirm und die beiden Stereo-Kopfhöreranschlüsse an der Frontseite zu erwähnen.
