AMDs Opteron wird schneller: Advanced Micro Devices hat vier neue Modelle der Opteron Familie nachgeschoben (0.09µm). Für Multiprozessor Server gibt es neu den Opteron 8224 (3.2 GHz) sowie den Opteron 8222 (3.0 GHz), für Dualprozessor Maschinen den Opteron 2224 (3.2 GHz) und 2222 (3.0 GHz). Alle vier CPUs kommen mit zwei Kernen und 2x 1MB L2 Cache. Die maximale Leistungsaufnahme (Thermal Design Power, TDP) wird mit 120 bzw. 95 Watt angegeben (bei 3.2 bzw. 3.0 GHz). Die Opterons der 822x Serie kosten 2149 bzw. 1514 US$, die beiden 222x Opterons 873 bzw. 698 US$ (OEM-Preise). (AMD)

For Multiprocessor servers there's the new Opteron 8224 (3.2 GHz) and Opteron 8222 (3.0 GHz), for Dualprocessor machines the Opteron 2224 (3.2 GHz) and 2222 (3.0 GHz). All four CPUs come with two cores and 2x 1MB L2 cache. The maximum power consumption (Thermal Design Power, TDP) is specified at 120 and 95 Watts (at 3.2 and 3.0 GHz). Aluminium und Glas: Apple hat den iMac überarbeitet. Das bisher kleinste Modell mit 17" Bildschirm entfällt, dafür sind die Preise der 20" und 24" Modelle durchs Band gesenkt worden. Die neuen Rechner sind nicht mehr in weissen Kunststoff gefasst, sondern in ein noch schlankeres Aluminiumgehäuse, und das Display soll mit kratzresistentem Glas beschichtet sein ("glossy"/spiegelnd).

Ebenfalls aufgewertet wurde der Mac mini, er kommt nun endlich auch mit Core 2 Duo Prozessor.

Apple hat ausserdem die Softwarepakete iLife '08 und iWork '08 vorgestellt.

Aluminum and glass: Apple has upgraded its iMacs. The previously smallest 17" model isn't anymore; the existing 20" and 24" machines have been reduced in price -- and they're not white anymore. The new iMacs are packed in an even slimmer enclosure made of Aluminum, and the screen consists of scratch-resistant glass ("glossy").
The Mac mini has also been beefed up, it finally got the Core 2 Duo processor.

Apple finally introduced new releases of their software, iLife '08 und iWork '08.
